Aldridge Auditorium at Clark Atlanta Renovation

August 13, 2023

NTI worked as part of Azcunes Architects design team on the renovation of the Aldridge Auditorium at Clark Atlanta University.    The result of the transformation of the auditorium is now a highly functional, and beautiful, state-of-the-art auditorium.

Clark Atlanta  uses Aldridge Auditorium primarily as a lecture hall.  NTI was included as the project's  technology consultant to upgrade the aging audio visual (AV) systems.   Technologies available today allowed for our design to improve sight lines to the stage (and screen on stage), and to improve the audio quality so that the entire audience could hear audio, whether it was associated with a video presentation, was a speaker behind a podium or in a group discussion or stage.

The Clark Atlanta staff responsible for the auditorium (existing conditions picture at right) had conducted a thorough review of issues and concerns with the existing systems.  They also confirmed their collective desires for the new facility, which would be used primarily as a lecture hall.

Their collective desired result was a state-of-the-art auditorium designed for the primary use as a lecture hall, however, with thought given to the various other educational uses for which an auditorium can be ideal.

NTI's project manager and audio visual subject matter expert, Craig Coleman, designed the AV systems to match the client's defined objectives.  Craig also believes  the Clark Atlanta team deserves great credit for overcoming  the challenges of supply chain issues by remaining attentive to their objective while remaining flexible with regard to available systems.

NTI  proud to have been part of the design team for the renovation of Clark Atlanta's Aldridge Auditorium.

Aldridge Auditorium at Clark Atlant

Clark Atlanta University  was formed with the consolidation of Atlanta University and Clark College.  Atlanta University, established in 1865 by the American Missionary Association, was the nation’s first institution to award graduate degrees to African-Americans.   Clark College, established four years later in 1869, was the nation’s first four-year liberal arts college to serve a primarily African-American student population. With over 4,000 students, Clark Atlanta is the largest of the 37-member UNCF institutions.

NTI’s consultants have been thought leaders in the field of low voltage design for the last 25 years.  We have consulted on budgets, designed and documented the IT cabling infrastructure and selected technology systems, managed the procurement process, and overseen the implementation of systems in our scope to verify our design intent.   We  also work with those who install the hardware and software to assure our design meets the needs of all who rely on the IT cabling infrastructure.

NTI projects are led by  NTI Principals who manage a team of project managers, subject matter experts and Revit/AutoCAD drafting specialists.   As thought leaders, we are each students of our industry, working together with the objective of providing a best in class design on time, each and every time.
