Client Objective
Ponce City Market is not just a massive historical renovation; it's the largest adaptive re-use project in Atlanta's history with the goal to move Atlanta forward while maintaining and emphasizing the city's unique history and culture.
The result of the project is a destination mixed-use development with approximately 2.1M GSF under roof. It includes:
- 330,000 SF of retail and restaurants
- 475,000 SF of office space
- 259 residential flats
- 75,000 sf Headquarters for Jamestown Properties
Ponce City Market is located on the Atlanta BeltLine, a multi-billion dollar rail project designed to connect the city's in-town neighborhoods via an existing 22-mile railroad track that encircles the city.
In 2016, Ponce City Market was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Ponce City Market is a true live-work-play community. The mixed-use development includes residential space, a food hall, a corporate HQ, general office space, and retail space. Ponce City Market quickly became a favorite Atlanta destination.
NTI was hired to be the technology consultant for the overall project, responsible for designing the cabling infrastructure for all technology systems, WiFi, access control, and CCTV throughout the building and parking deck. In some spaces, AV was also an important consideration. We worked with many firms including our client, Jamestown Properties and 3 different architects - Choate + Hertlein for base building scope, Gensler for the HQ & office space and Stevens & Wilkinson for the residential lofts.
Although the project was actually a single project, in many ways was like working on several interconnected projects. Working within the overall schedule with each architect throughout schematic design, design development and construction documents was a complex design coordination task. Our successful coordination among everyone involved was a critical piece to keep the complex design moving forward on schedule.
NTI began working on the technology design in 2012 and worked on the project either in design or construction for nearly 4 years. Before the project was complete, Travel + Leisure ranked Ponce City Market as one of the 25 in its list of "The World's Coolest New Tourist Attractions" in early 2014. NTI's services for Construction Administration were completed in 2016.

NTI Solutions
Cabling Design - We designed the cabling systems, including horizontal and vertical cabling, pathways, cable management, IDF, MDF, and equipment room layouts and outlet details. The cabling supports voice and data (POS, PMS, Admin LAN, wireless and hardwired internet) services. We showed conduit and back box requirements for the MEP documents.
MATV/CATV - Coordinated with the television service vendor and Architect to identify all cabling, junction boxes, TV locations, splitters, taps, and amplifiers for the MATV/CATV. We provided layout details for the head-end room and performance specifications for the MATV system. Using the performance specs, the cabling vendor can design, install and certify the MATV infrastructure per the vendor requirements.
Security - We designed the security systems, including closed-circuit security cameras, monitors, duress alarms, door contact alarms, alarm control panels, keypads, and motion detectors. We incorporated owner device locations as part of the Construction Documents after review and sign-off by the owner and operator.
Audio Visual - Delivered construction documents and specifications for the AV systems following brand standards and client direction Our design addressed all audio visual content components in public access areas. We included all speakers, cabling, AV wall plates, input sources, amplifiers, junction boxes, conduit, and infrastructure for meeting rooms and the F&B areas.
