F3 Marina
Industry: Recreation
Size: Approx. 59,000 SF
Location: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
NTI Client: Founders 3
Scope: Structured Cable, AV, Security
Client Objective
Founders 3 decided that their new F3 Marina in Ft. Lauderdale would be capable of handling the weather that so often visits south Florida, notably hurricanes. Therefore, the building has been built to be hurricane-rated to protect their customers’ prized boats in up to 170 mph winds.
When built, this facility was only the second of its kind in the world hosting a 240 rack, fully automated, and computerized drystack sorting system.
NTI was pleased to work on the new F3 Marina in Fort Lauderdale, providing a complete technology design for the impressive new home for local and visiting boats. The 13½-foot beams allow the marina to store boats up to 46 feet in overall length and 20 feet in height, with a weight up to 30,000 pounds. The fully automated crane system sorts and retrieves boats in a fast, safe, and efficient manner. The system is appreciated greatly for its ability to provide outstanding service for the marina’s customer boat enthusiasts. In fact, a boat at this marina can be stored or retrieved and launched in five minutes!
Inside the building, NTI designed the required structured cabling, wireless requirements, CCTV, and access control systems. Once fully designed, our parent company ASD installed the systems that NTI designed.
The F3 Marina in Ft. Lauderdale is just minutes from the northern boundary of Port Everglades and the Atlantic Ocean, safe from most passing hurricanes that may visit the area. Not only that, but it is located in an area with no overhead constraints, and access to multiple restaurants, shopping locations, and entertainment venues.
We were proud to have worked on the state-of-the-art marina in Ft. Lauderdale and we are eager to work on our next marine project!
NTI Solutions
Facility Technology Design - NTI designed and produced drawings and specifications for the IT/TV infrastructure by coordinating with the design team and the ownership group. Our drawings provided the detail for all
the "Information Transport System" (ITS) elements, including the cabling, technology equipment rooms,
cabling pathways, power and HVAC requirements, etc. The completed ITS serves as the information highway
for all data, security, TV, AV, and wireless systems for the new facility.
Security - NTI designed the CCTV and card access systems within the scope. The CCTV system design includes
specifications and elevations for security cameras, monitors, alarm systems for perimeter doors, and DVR units.
Audio Visual Services – Included a dynamic background music system that adhered to the owner's requirements. The system supports up to four audio sources that can be distributed. Video systems include flat panels and projectors. The volume controls and source selectors are easy to understand and access, so staff can control the system without going to a central closet to make changes.
Construction Administration – During the construction phase, NTI personnel responded to RFIs from the
contractors regarding the technology systems' build-out to ensure the design intent. We also visited the site
to personally witness the contractor's progress, workmanship, and adherence to NTI drawings and specifications.
