Client Objective
The Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention center has the mission “to enhance the lives of [their] customers by creating and enabling unsurpassed vacation and leisure experiences.”
NTI was proud to help bring this mission alive by providing design consultation, documentation and construction administration for all of the Gaylord Pacific’s technology design requirements.
This beautiful resort and convention center is 1.8 million sf, with 1,600 guestrooms. It is 22 stories high and is located in the gorgeous Chula Vista, California which is a short drive from San Diego. Just 8 miles north is San Diego’s Gaslamp
Quarter dining and entertainment district and 14 miles north is the San Diego International Airport.
The state-of-the-art convention center will include 275,000 SF of meeting space across three levels. There will be four ballrooms, two outdoor event lawns, and support spaces. The resort will have multiple restaurants, a lazy river pool, a relaxing spa, and many outdoor recreational facilities like bike and boat rental hubs that have breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
After years of planning, the project currently has an estimated construction schedule of 36 months. Port Commissioner Anne Moore, a representative of Chula Vista on the port’s board, said that “There were multiple hurdles over the years in getting to where the bayfront project is now, but none was as challenging as those in recent years. Nobody could have imagined that we would have to deal with a pandemic and a war, and supply-chain shortages and inflation.” These collective issues delayed the project and increased the total cost of the project by nearly $40 million dollars. However, the city of Chula Vista persevered and will now see the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center open in 2025.
NTI loved working with this Marriott branded resort and convention center and is pleased to have provided the low voltage design consultation in an effort to bring unsurpassed vacation experiences to Gaylord Pacific’s customers.
