Client Objective

The goal of the Nebraska Innovation Campus (NIC) was to connect the talents of experts, companies, and the University of Nebraska to create a unique culture of innovation.

The NIC is designed to facilitate new partnerships between the University and the private sector and to provide more employment opportunities for University of Nebraska graduates. Phase One involved 380,000 SF of renovations as well as new construction including the renovation of two 100-year-old buildings, a new construction of an 80,000 sf Wet Lab, and a new construction of a 65,000 sf office building.

The Scarlet Hotel and conference center boasts 154 guest rooms and is located on Nebraska’s Innovation Campus providing a place for people to stay while visiting the NIC and/or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which is adjacent to the hotel. The hotel’s technology is connected via conduit to the university, and the lodging brings a blend of small-town generosity, genuine connection, and creative common ground for all who stay there.

As the technology consultant for the hotel, NTI provided the design for the entire structured cabling system which supports all data, voice, TV  wireless coverage, audio-visual systems,  and security. In collaboration with the university, the hotel includes 1,184 sf of flexible learning and event space that hosts a boardroom, founder’s room, and private dining room. These spaces are equipped for a learning experience for a small group or for hosting conferences.  There are also multiple restaurants including the Well and Good Signature restaurant and the Good Life Coffee Shop which are accessible to NIC students.

The adjacent NIC Conference Center was not part of NTI’s scope of service but it offers access to an auditorium, banquet hall, and breakout rooms for larger conferences. In addition, the Barred Owl rooftop is fit for relaxed collaboration or enjoying an evening cocktail.

NTI is proud to have worked on the Scarlet Hotel in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
