The Hunter Hotel Conference is the national hotel, real estate, and finance conference which is designed for hotel owners and investors. It features expert speakers to networking opportunities and provides the attendees with the opportunity to walk away with new insights into their operations. Jeff Cook recently attended the conference.
Since many of our clients, partners and friends share NTI’s interest in the hospitality market, we decided to share the primary take-aways from the conference.
1. The market is coming back.
The general consensus of hotel developers and owners was that this is one of the best times the hotel market has experienced in many years for getting projects started…demand is high and supply is relatively depressed – due to several years of slower than normal new hotel construction.
2. 2012 RevPar growth was healthy.
The reported RevPar growth shared by some attendees, from 6% to upwards of 10%, is indicative of good times ahead.
3. Financing is becoming attractive, once again.
This was excellent to hear since most hotels require financing terms, and over the past few years, financing hasn’t always been easy to achieve.
After attending the conference and hearing so many positive indicators of growth, I left the conference with a continued optimistic outlook for this sector of our business.
The evidence we have seen in the 3 months since the conference provides good reason to remain optimistic for a strong, positive market trend.
